Bergen Big Band (BBB) is a professional big band established in 1991. Its roots go all the way back to Bergen Band in the 70s. The band was founded by late saxophonist Olav Dale, who was the band’s musical director and driving force until 2014. The band wishes to preserve Olav's original vision by staying innovative and relevant, whilst still keeping the big band tradition close to heart.

For the past 30 years, BBB has performed on some of the world's greatest jazz festivals with several of the world's leading jazz performers such as Nils Petter Molvær, Paquito D’Rivera, Diana Krall, Chris Potter, Terje Rypdal, Palle Mikkelborg, Erlend Skomsvoll, Phil Woods, Django Bates, Andy Sheppard, Karin Krog, John Surman, Arild Andersen, Jon Balke, Joe Henderson, Marius Neset and Maria Schneider.

As one of Norway's leading professional big bands, BBB strives to continuously revitalize itself by collaborating with leading composers and jazz artists. We are highly involved with building the community by arranging workshops and courses for younger musicians in the region. Bergen Big Band has released 7 albums, and were nominated for Spellemannsprisen for the album Seagull in 2005.
